In-Home Treatment Options

Kathy Braun, PT, ATC’s home health care is for our community members who are not able to come to our clinic and for those who prefer to have their physical therapist come to their home. For these patients, we bring needed physical therapy services right where they are needed most - in the comfort of their homes. Home health care helps people improve movement, manage chronic pain, avoid surgeries, and reduce the need for medication in the same way that physical therapy at our clinic does.

Both entail a thorough analysis of your condition and physical needs so we can determine what treatment you need for your health and well-being. At the end of your initial evaluation, we will work with your patient care team to formulate your individualized treatment plan, which can include improving your range of motion, strengthening your muscles and helping you control chronic pain, among other things. It may also include a home exercise program that you do between visits to help facilitate your recovery and allow you to get back to activities you used to do. Of course, we will regularly evaluate your progress along the way and make any adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.

Benefits of Home Physical Therapy

Home health care isn't only for seniors. People of all ages can benefit from receiving care in their homes. Some of the benefits of home physical therapy can include:

  • Better compliance,
  • Better treatment attendance,
  • Decreased likelihood of relapse,
  • A faster recovery.

For some of our patients, home health care is a better option than in-clinic physical therapy. Here are some reasons why:

  • Inability to drive or a fear of driving,
  • Excessive fatigue,
  • Significant challenges with walking & transfers,
  • Little or no family support that might prevent attendance at our facility.

Conditions We Treat

Some of the conditions we treat include:

  • Orthopedic Conditions: Hip, Knee, Ankle, Back/Neck, Rib, Shoulder, Elbow/Hand pain or movement dysfunction
  • Sports Injuries
  • Post-surgical: Knee Replacements, Shoulder Replacements and Other Joint Replacements or Surgeries
  • Headaches: Migraines, Tension Headaches, Cluster Headaches and Sinus Headaches
  • Vestibular Conditions: Dizziness/Vertigo, Tinnitus (Ringing in Your Ers)
  • Chronic Pain Conditions: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Ankylosing Spondylitis

Who Refers Patients to Our Home Health Care Services?

Many of our patients are referred by physicians who seek options for their patients that have restricted travel abilities. Some are referred by local hospital care planners that serve the senior and low mobility communities. Finally, many patients are set to us from Home Health Agencies after Medicare Part A benefits have been exhausted, in-person physical therapy becomes too demanding for the patients, or patients arrive too fatigued to effectively participate in an our outpatient therapy programs.

Will My Insurance Cover Home Health Care?

Yes! Many insurance carriers cover home health care.
